Who killed the honey bee?

A few months ago I had a conversation with contemporary shaman Judith Seelig (who I have talked about elsewhere on this blog) during which she was talking about the danger to the human race because the honey bees were dying out... Swarms being transported hundreds of miles to pollinate crops and hence being disorientated and destroying their natural sense of direction.

The danger is, without bees to pollinate crops, there will be no food and without food the entire food chain is destroyed. Humans would become extinct.

Therefore it was disturbing to watch BBC2's programme last night 'Who killed the honey bee?' which revealed that MILLIONS of bees are now dying - and that some beekeepers have lost 80% of their bees due to 'Colony Collapse Disorder'.

It would seem that Planet Earth is truly starting to break down...

If I Were President

Now that baby Jack has got into the habit of waking up at 6.45am I have got into the habit of watching Sky News Breakfast programme for my daily dose of worldwide meltdown and catastrophe. And on the show they have a great 5 minute cameo of historic/important people saying what they would do if they were President of the United States of America.

This morning's slot was a Red Indian campaigner for the rights of indigenious people who pointed out that the whole of the US constitution was based on theft and that what the US (and the world) needs is a move from patriarchy to matriarchy where people live with individual freedom but within communities which function as families with love at the heart of things and where resources are shared and each makes their own contribution in whatever way they can. The community educates the young looks after its old and also respects the land it occupies.

Which I thought was a wonderful way of putting it.

In short a more feminine and harmonious way of existing.

Now that the system which allowed brute force to grab all it could and rape the land, and whose greed has now lead to financial and environmental meltdown not to mention so much war and destruction, perhaps it is time to consider returning to a more natural and peaceful way of being?

Profound Experience

As you can imagine, I get invited to participate in events all the time - many of which I have to decline due to the restrictions on my time, plus the family demands of having a family of 5 quite young boys.

But, once in a while, an invitation arrives on my doorstep which feels so appropriate and synchronistic that I intuitively feel I must accept it, to allow new experience to flow into my life...

Such an event happened this weekend, where I joined a group of 15 other women plus the amazing shaman Judith Seelig at the 'Fire and the Feminine' event at Windsor Castle.

The invitation arrived with no real description of what the weekend would entail, nor any detailed agenda of what to expect; just that it was an event for women business leaders.

So we women all arrived in good faith, essentially on a 'Magical Mystery Tour' of the soul, with no expectations, to see how the weekend would unfold.

I will not add too much detail, but suffice to say that the weekend was profoundly moving for me, for a number of reasons... Not least the fact that when you say 'yes' to things which suddenly appear in your life, with total faith and abandon, the results can be profound.

I am certain that much will result from this weekend's events, partly because of the energy and understanding generated between the women present, but also because of the calibre of the group. But meantime, let me just say that the wheels of the Universe are moving in a totally new direction which I feel sure will have amazing consequences for this planet and 'all who sail in her'.
