Yeah Baby!

The fabulous thing about my life is that I never know what is going to happen next!

I recently went to a book signing for Business Nightmares in Derby only to have Austin Powers lookalike Emilio Federico turn up with champagne and a lovely cake to thank me for helping inspire him to start up in business. He is an avid follower of Dragons' Den and decided to create his company Groovy Entertainment after watching the show.

He doesn't have a website yet, but if you would like Austin Powers to add a bit of mojo to your next party/product launch/whatever then you can contact him on 07971 556935.

Wow, how wonderful it is to have such great 'fans' !!!

do you have a problem with those who wish to remain anonymous, they may have valid reasons!

Please give us even one valid reason for remaining anonymous.

You're not Gordon Brown are you?!?

Anonymous said...

But mrrobot Rachel may know who you are but does anyone else, as your profile is locked, so you are anonymous to a point!

Anonymous said...

Oh by the way does it make any difference to you both if I do remain anonymous?

The point is, why would anyone want to be anonymous on Rachels site, unless they were here for some reason other than to share in her experiences.

I email Rachel every so often and she always writes back to me. Not always immediately, but then she does have a busy life obviously.

What i don't get is why people parcipate in websites they obviously disagree with.

There are billons of other websites out there.

Rest assured there is no other reason other than to share in the experiences. I must admit though I have not done this 'blogging' thing before so am new to it really. It is nice to share in the repatoire as one can give honest opinions. I actually admire Rachel in all what she has done, particuarlly the way in which she has 'bounced' back, and stood her ground in all that she believes in. Hope this clears up any fears/concerns you may both have.

I love your blog.
Not just because I am an entrepreneur myself.
Big compliment!

mrrobot, people may join sites that they disagree with to put their two cents in and maybe give insight to others on things that they may not have thought of. It's not always necessarily negative, it's just a difference in opinion. Isn't that what a proper conversation is all about? Doesn't that make chatting a little more interesting?
I dont mean this badly at all. Just a difference in opinion as just discussed.

Rachel, I liked your 'yeah baby' blog. It's a little more happy that some of your more recent blogs. It's great to see you smiling. Have you and Peter made up yet? I hope so!

Before you ask me why i'm anonymous, it's because i prefer it that way. I can be a lot more honest. Don't you prefer that?

Sorry, I don't get it. How can you be more honest by being anonymous? Are you not compromising your integrity? Are you saying if you revealed your identity you'd have to be less honest?
I am not particularly bothered whether you reveal your identity or not but I think I'd have slightly more regard for your comments if I had an idea of you or your background.

This is the worldwide web and there are a lot of crazy people out there. I am simply protecting myself by remaining anonymous. Also, honesty and being anonymous are not a matter of integrity, they're a matter of no boundaries.
Also, I dont care if you disregards my comments because you simply dont know my name. Maybe others take a different point of view. Knowing someone's name tells you nothing about their background by the way. So tell me something, whats the difference between 'anonymous' and 'mrrobot' for example? Can you tell me mrrobot's background?

Anne Herbert said...

Anonymous, you didn't really answer my question though.

Based on your own comments - quote... I can be a lot more honest. ... unquote. I asked if you'd have been less honest if you had revealed your identity.
You sound like a politician to me.

The point I was making was if people openly judge, criticise or even praise Rachel on her blog then I need to see the credentials of these people and the authority with which they make the comments. If not, then I cannot take it seriously.
If the comments are being posted in a public forum then the intention of the poster is for everyone else to read them. If it is private and for Rachel's eyes only, well her email address is on her website.
Having said all this, I do take on board your reasons for wanting to remain anonymous, I just down buy the honesty bit.

Correction - meant to say

I just don't buy the honesty bit.

I understand you anonymous. I have been there before, but if you p**s Rachel off, she won't make her self available to people like us anymore.

I don't think that would be such a great job.

Just respect the fact that "anonymous + snipping" offers no value to the wider community here. Of course it is good to voice strong opinion but your opening remark was sarcastic and i don't think it is helpful here.

I take onboard your remark about mrrobot. This is a failing in me too.

People use pseudonyms all the time (e.g Mr Robot), it's not an issue for me. Posting anonymously to launch a personal attack on Rachel is cowardly and hypocritical even if the poster feels they are being 'honest' and please understand I am not accusing you of launching a personal attack but I have seen some anonymous posts on this site doing just that. Fact is I am not sure that these are all posted by the same person. Surely even in your anonymity you'd like to be unique?

Anonymous said...

yes, sorry guys. I understand what you're saying now.

I think people are so insensitive.
That is the problem with the Alpha sterotype. The Alpha is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Alpha is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Without feelings the Alpha is the greatest liability in the workplace - and indeed in all walks of life. You see the Alpha isn't human. How can it be. It doesn't have any feelings.

Customers are human. Businesses are human. People are human.

Alphas are bad for business. They cause wars and mayhem.

Who wants to be around when an Alpha realises that they really are a human being - and all hell breaks lose? Alpha is a liability.

I can't really see why this whole thing about anonymity is being discussed, the blog was "Yeah Baby", and there seems to be an argument ensuing on being anonymous, my opinion is we are all being disrespectful to Rachel, I would not be surprised if she did decide to stop her blog spot.

Rachel Elnaugh said...

Your comments are all too interesting for me to stop blogging! When people stop commenting I'll stop the blog.

However I would prefer it if everyone did have an identity, mainly - as Anne states - how do I know whether it is the same 'anonymous' as 'anonymous' has left lots of comments which vary greatly, at least with Mr Robot for example I am getting a feel for his personality.

Anonymous said...

How about if I end my comments with 'BX'? I'd rather not create an identity as I'm a little wary of putting my personal details on the net. I'm sure you can all understand that. It's a compromise isnt it?
Rachel, thanks for responding! I'm new on this blog and think it's pretty cool.
Thanks for setting it up.

Rachel i was thinking the same thing, i will use The DLOG, if that is OK with. I do get a strange feeling that the other anonymous is somewhat mimicing me though, or is just 'synchronisity'?

TheDLOG

Anonymous said...

DLOG, I'm not mimicking since I said it first! ok ok let's agree on synchronisity then. I'll take it as a compliment that you liked my idea :)

I did not mean about the identity issue, it is just the general comments made. I was almost getting confused at whose was whose! I must admit though i think your case for anonymous was definately put forward better than mine, congratulations.

No worries! It's all good. Now we can unconfuse everyone.

Business Nightmares?

A tale of a arrogant and deluded woman who ran a once successful gift experience business straight into the ground and then blamed, variously, men, banks, and anyone but herself?

Sounds superb.
